Parent Counseling

Parenting can be challenging—even on the best of days. Many parents I work with are deeply committed to doing their best, yet still feel like they’re falling short. Even the most devoted parents can feel overwhelmed, unsure, or disconnected at times. In parent counseling, we work together to explore your emotions, clarify your expectations, and better understand your child’s needs. Whether you’re navigating a specific issue or just trying to understand your child better, I can provide support, tools, and perspective.

I often find that parents struggle most when their child’s behavior seems to conflict with their core values. In those moments, it’s common for parents to feel like they’ve failed to model those values effectively. By encouraging self-compassion, I help parents view the situation more holistically—recognizing that one moment or behavior doesn’t define their entire parenting journey.

It’s completely normal for parents to enjoy certain ages or stages of their child’s development more than others. It’s also common to feel triggered when your child is either too much like you—or not like you. In parent counseling, we explore these reactions with curiosity and compassion, helping you better understand your emotional responses and develop more ease and connection in your relationship with your child.

In our work together we can:

  • Explore your parenting values and goals
  • Understand your emotional triggers and how they impact your relationship with your child
  • Navigate discipline, boundaries, and communication with greater confidence
  • Work through challenges related to co-parenting, blended families, or single parenting
  • Heal from intergenerational patterns that may be influencing your parenting
  • Gain insight into your child’s behavior and developmental needs

Together, we focus on building a more connected and compassionate relationship with your child—while also supporting you as a person, not just a parent. Contact me to get started on a more affirming relationship with your child and with yourself.
